The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is now accepting nominations for its annual Community Mental Health Awards and the Tam Grant Memorial Bursary.
Community members in Northumberland, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to improving mental health and wellness. Nominees can include volunteers, community leaders, caregivers, individuals with lived experience, and others who have shown exceptional commitment to mental health.
The deadline to submit nominations or applications is 4:30 p.m. on June 23, 2025.
This year’s awards include:
Achievement Through Adversity Award, which honours someone who has shown strength and perseverance in the face of mental illness.
Maurice Lovnes Award, presented to a CMHA HKPR volunteer demonstrating vision, dedication, and care.
Caregiver Champion Award, recognizing a family member or caregiver supporting a loved one with mental health challenges.
Naresh James Award, celebrating leadership and advocacy that has created lasting positive change.
Champion of Mental Health Award, honouring individuals or organizations that promote knowledge, hope, and belonging.
In addition, CMHA HKPR is accepting applications for the Tam Grant Memorial Bursary, which supports students entering post-secondary education who are living with a diagnosed mental illness. Up to $1,000 is available per recipient. Applicants must reside in one of the four local regions.
Award and bursary winners will be recognized at CMHA HKPR’s Annual Meeting in September.
