An investigation is continuing after the discovery of human remains in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, say Lennox and Addington County OPP.
Police said on Saturday, May 17, 2025, shortly before 3 p.m., officers responded to the discovery of human remains at a location near Hwy. 49 between Old Hwy. 2 and Lower Slash Road.
“The remains appear to have been there for an extended period of time,” said police.
The investigation remains in the initial stages, with help from OPP’s forensic identification services unit, and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, explained police.
There is believed to be no risk to public safety at this time, added OPP.
Residents in the area may have noticed an increased police presence over the weekend.
