After finishing up their medical training, two new physicians will be coming to the Brighton and Quinte West areas, Docs by the Bay has announced.
The physician recruitment organization said Dr. Sidra Razi and Ron Dieba have signed medical services agreements with the City of Quinte West and the Municipality of Brighton to provide family care to both communities following completion of their medical training.
“Docs by the Bay’s ongoing efforts to recruit and support early-career physicians and medical students like Dr. Razi and Mr. Dieba are vital for strengthening our local healthcare services,” said Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander. “These dedicated professionals will play a crucial role in ensuring our community has access to comprehensive, quality care now and into the future.
“We’re investing in primary care today for the health and well-being of our residents.”
According to Docs by the Bay, Razi holds a bachelor of science degree in applied chemistry and biology from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), and a medical degree from Xavier University School of Medicine in Aruba.
“Having worked as a clinical assistant for a local family physician for four years, she will begin her family medicine residency at TMU this July,” reads a recent Docs by the Bay release.
Meanwhile, Dieba holds a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the University of Toronto and has decades of experience as a pharmacist/pharmacy owner, said the recruitment organization.
“He is currently completing his medical degree at the International University of the Health Sciences in St. Kitts and will soon be starting his family medicine residency,” added Docs by the Bay.
By investing in early-career doctors like Razi and Dieba, Docs by the Bay said the organization is ensuring the next generation of physicians is equipped and inspired to serve there they’re needed most.
“The City of Quinte West is excited to welcome Dr. Sidra Razi and medical student Ron Dieba as the newest additions to our doctor recruitment program,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “This is an encouraging step toward addressing the physician shortage in our community, and I would like to thank everyone who helped make this possible.”
The additions of Razi and Dieba will mark the organization’s 21st and 22nd doctors recruited.
Docs by the Bay is supported by the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, Quinte West and Brighton.
