
A Quinte West resident is facing a slew of charges after police say they responded to a report of an individual allegedly entering a residence and assaulting occupants brandishing a firearm.
On Friday, May 23, 2025, OPP issued a release saying officers and the canine unit responded to the report at a Trenton Street residence on Monday, May 19, 2025, at about 11:30 a.m. Minor injuries were sustained in the incident, according to police.
The subsequent investigation – involving Quinte West OPP and its criminal investigation unit – led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Quinte West resident on Friday, May 23, 2025, reported police.
As a result of the investigation, police said Austin Lloyd, 29, of Quinte West, was charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, failure to comply with an undertaking, failure to comply with a probation order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and assault.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Belleville, reported OPP.
No other details were released by police.
