A local favourite is getting a fresh new start. The Fidelity Group of Companies has officially acquired Rutherford’s Farm and Roadside Market in Colborne.
Rutherford’s has been a community staple since the late 1920s, with Dave and Sherry Rutherford operating the business since 1990. The couple will continue to run the market under the new ownership as part of a partnership with Fidelity.
Fidelity President Jim Pillsworth says plans are already underway to expand the store by spring 2026. The market will shift to year-round operations, meeting long-standing demand for a local grocery option. Planned upgrades include an expanded product range and improved parking to ease traffic flow on Highway 2.
“We’re proud to invest in Colborne and help grow what Dave and Sherry built,” said Pillsworth. “This is about more than just groceries-it’s about community.”
The market will continue to offer fresh, local produce while creating new jobs and economic opportunities in the region.
Fidelity says the acquisition is part of a broader effort to support local families and contribute to Colborne’s long-term growth.
