If you’re wanting to learn more about the urbanization project planned along 2nd Dug Hill Road in Quinte West, mark June 17 on the calendar.
The City of Quinte West said it’s hosting a second public information centre (PIC) meeting for the project at the Trent Port Marina (15 Creswell Dr., Trenton) next Tuesday, June 17 starting at 4:30 p.m. The event is slated to run until 7 p.m.
As previously reported, the city got more than a $11-million provincial boost earlier this year – marking the largest provincial grant in its history – to help tackle urbanization of Hwy. 2 (from 2nd Dug Hill Road to County Road 40) and 2nd Dug Hill Road (from Hwy. 2 south for about 1.7 kilometres.)
According to city officials, the first PIC for 2nd Dug Hill Road – which was hosted in November 2024 – showcased design options for public input on sidewalk and multi-use path options.
For this upcoming session, city staff said people can drop in to learn more about work planned south of Hwy. 2, including more on project timelines and a new multi-use path design.
Staff added that feedback gathered during the first round and through a community survey was used to guide the project so far and will be presented on June 17.
The city said further project information will be available online starting June 18. Additional work planned for 2nd Dug hill Road includes lane reconfiguration, intersection improvements, utility relocation and culvert replacement.
As previously reported, work planned for Hwy. 2 includes lane widening, the addition of “active transportation lanes,” and intersection reconfiguration and expansion.
Earlier, the city reported construction on the projects was slated to start this summer and wrap by the end of 2027.
The projects are reportedly being driven by significant growth and development in the area.
