This summer’s John Smylie Memorial Golf Classic is shaping up to be one for the record books as the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation perseveres with its “Emerge Stronger” campaign in support of a new, state-of-the-art emergency department.
And organizers are pulling out all the stops.
As part of the lineup this year, the foundation has announced that $5,000 will be won in a helicopter golf ball drop at this summer’s tourney.
How does it work?
Well, the cash prize winner will be chosen based on the ball that lands closest to the target after a helicopter soars over the Oak Hills Golf Club during the big day on Aug. 8 over the noon hour.
The chopper will drop 2,000 numbered golf balls onto the course, explained organizers.
All of the proceeds will support the fundraising campaign.
The drop is being sponsored by Patricia Guernsey and 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours. It’s open to everyone – no golf skills are required in this instance – and people don’t need to be present to win either, added organizers.
Tickets are $20 each or eight for $100 (one ticket equals one golf ball.)
People looking to buy tickets can send e-transfers to info@tmhfoundation.com with their names and contact information; call 613-392-2540 ext. 5401 to pay by credit card or visit the TMHF office on the second floor of the hospital.
“Every ticket supports hospital care in our region, and choosing e-transfer helps ensure more of your donation goes straight to essential equipment and services,” said the foundation.
