
Quinte West OPP has laid a number of impaired driving charges after multiple separate investigations in recent days.
Here’s the latest rundown:
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at about 7:30 p.m., police said a traffic stop on Front Street in Trenton led to charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, Highway Traffic Act and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Investigation allegedly revealed the driver was suspended and suspected of being impaired, resulting in the individual being transported to the police station for further testing, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 23-year-old Quinte West resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine, and two counts of driving while under suspension.
Meanwhile, during a RIDE check in the Loyalist Parkway area on July 8, at about 3:30 a.m., police said a novice driver ended up being arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
The accused is a 23-year-old Carrying Place resident, who was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) and novice driver – B.A.C. above zero.
On July 9, at about 9:45 p.m., police said a traffic stop on Hwy. 401 led to another impaired driving investigation. An approved screening device was used, resulting in an arrest and a trip to the station for further testing, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 28-year-old Bowmanville resident was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) speeding 1-49 km/h over the posted limit, failure to properly wear a seatbelt, and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
Also on July 9, at about 11:30 pm., police said they investigated a collision leading officers to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol. Police said with help from OPP’s emergency response unit and canine unit, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing, resulting in charges being laid.
As a result of the investigation, police said the accused 54-year-old Carrying Place resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available, and failure to report an accident.
None of these charges in any of the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
Police continue to ask if citizens suspect someone is driving impaired or about to drive impaired, to call 911 and report it.
