Quinte West has rolled out new “Shop Local” pins across the city as efforts continue to encourage residents to support local during tough economic times.
The pins are available at select locations and while supplies last.
City officials say the initiative is about encouraging support for local businesses this summer.
It’s a simple gesture, but a meaningful one in a show of support for the business community, local economy and other small businesses across the nation, says the city.
“By shopping local, residents and visitors help keep dollars in the Quinte West community, support local jobs, and enable businesses to thrive year-round,” adds the city.
Free pins are available at Quinte West City Hall, the Frankford Municipal Office, Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, Trenton Downtown Improvement Area (DBIA) office and select downtown businesses.
“Every pin is a small way to make a big impact,” explains Luisa Sorrentino, the city’s economic development officer. “By picking up and proudly wearing a Quinte West ‘Shop Local’ pin, community members can help promote the importance of shopping at a local business or buying from a local company.
“These everyday shopping choices are important investments in our local economy.”
The pins are one of many initiatives that are part of the city’s broader “Shop Local” campaign, which aims to raise awareness for and celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of Quinte West’s business community.
As part of the campaign, the city also recently released its latest “summer is heating up in Quinte West” video, marking the third in a series of seasonal videos promoting a summer selection of businesses, while encouraging residents to discover destinations and attractions in their own backyards.
Residents are also encouraged to snap and share “Shop Local” pictures online and/or photos while wearing pins and use #ShopLocalQuinteWest to inspire others and promote local this summer, add city officials.
