Northumberland OPP has put out another call for motorists to slow it down on Hwy. 401 after two separate alleged stunt driving incidents in the Brighton area.
According to OPP, in one instance, a 26-year-old Toronto driver was charged after allegedly being clocked at 159 km/h in the eastbound lanes. In addition to the stunt driving charge, the accused was charged with possession of more than one driver’s licence.
OPP is reminding drivers that once a replacement licence is issued, the old one is no longer valid and should be destroyed to prevent misuse or identity theft.
In another recent incident, police said a 22-year-old Belleville man was stopped for speeding at 155 km/h in the eastbound lanes in Brighton.
Police continue to stress to motorists that speeding drastically reduces reaction times and increases the severity of crashes.
In addition to being dished out future court dates, both of the accused also received 90-day licence suspensions, and the vehicles were impounded for two weeks.
