After a citizen tip earlier this week, Northumberland OPP says a Cambridge resident is facing an impaired driving charge.
On Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at about 9:15 p.m., police responded to a complaint involving a motorist suspected of being impaired in a commercial premises parking lot area off Hwy. 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope, reported OPP.
After speaking with the driver of the passenger vehicle, OPP said an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in an arrest and a trip to a nearby detachment for further testing.
According to police, further investigation revealed the individual was also allegedly in breach of court orders.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 52-year-old Cambridge resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and three counts of failure to comply with a release order – other than to attend court.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused also received a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Northumberland OPP continues to ask citizens to report impaired driving or suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
