The Northumberland Hispanic Cultural Club has announced its most ambitious Hispanic Heritage Month yet, unveiling a multi-week program of art, film, music, dance, food and scholarship.
The centrepiece is the “Hispanic Colours: Our Bright Heritage” a free exhibition at the Colborne Art Gallery’s Heritage Room, running every Friday to Sunday from October 4 to December 14. It showcases vivid works reflecting the traditions, landscapes and daily life of Hispanic communities, bringing a burst of colour and culture to the gallery space.
Club president Emilio Ojeda says the festival has grown alongside the community it represents.
Ojeda tells us that the art exhibition is something everyone should make time to see.
Other highlights include the free Northumberland Hispanic Film Festival at Victoria Hall (Sept. 30-Oct. 2), the Latin Dinner Gala with live mariachi music on October 11 at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn, Latin-Licious on October 18 at the Craft Food House, a scholarly conference on October 25, and the Hispania: Aranjuez concert on October 26 at Trinity United Church.
Ojeda says the public is warmly invited to experience the festival’s energy and diversity.
