Work to add upgrades to Brighton’s Peace Park continues, but the new asphalt walking path is nearly complete.
“Crews have finished asphalt paving, with topsoil and seeding to follow in order to restore the surrounding area,” said the municipality, in a brief update.
As previously reported, the park had to be closed off for a couple weeks in September to accommodate initial construction work for the new walking path. The park has since reopened.
Prior to this, a new play structure was installed, along with new swings and an accessible swing.
According to the municipality, the smaller treed park was originally dedicated in October 1992 to celebrate Canada’s commitment to world peace and environmental protection.
