An investigation is continuing after a serious crash on Old Hwy. 2 in Belleville over the weekend.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, at about 2:57 a.m., the Belleville Police Service said officers received a report of a serious collision on Old Hwy. 2 involving a Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cruze near Burns Road.
“When officers arrived, they found both vehicles with extensive damage,” said police, adding paramedics and fire were already on scene and three people were taken to hospital. “One person was in critical condition, and two others sustained minor injuries.”
Police said the initial investigation indicates that the Honda Civic, allegedly travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Chevrolet Cruze, at about 2:20 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are now asking anyone with information to reach out to the service at 613-966-0882 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
In another update Tuesday, police said they’re specifically appealing for witnesses in the area between 1:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., particularly people with dash cam or surveillance footage.
