The lighthearted, family-friendly event, held October 4, brought community members together to show solidarity with women, children, and youth impacted by violence. “We are beyond thrilled by the generosity of our community,” said Nancy Johnston, Cornerstone’s Executive Director. “Each year, Walk A Mile reminds us that when we work together, we can make real change for women and children in our community.”
Funds raised will help sustain programs including shelter services, counselling, and violence prevention initiatives. Johnston thanked the many sponsors and participants who made the event possible, with special recognition for lead sponsor Ontario Line Clearing, and supporters such as Canadian Tire Cobourg, Post Consumer Brands, Spoolon Manufacturing, Cobourg Police Service, Shoppers Port Hope, and Cameco.
Community partners like the Lions Club of Cobourg and Pulse Coffee House also contributed by providing breakfast and refreshments for attendees. “This event could not happen without our community partners,” Johnston added, thanking the Cobourg Fire Department, Cobourg Police Service, and the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums for their support.
Cornerstone says it extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s Walk A Mile a success.
