Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is inviting the Northumberland community to show their support for survivors of gender-based violence this November by wearing a Wrapped in Courage purple scarf.
As part of the provincewide Wrapped in Courage campaign, Cornerstone is raising awareness during Woman Abuse Prevention Month about the high rates of femicide and other forms of gender-based violence in Ontario. The purple scarf has become a powerful symbol of solidarity-showing survivors that they are not alone and that their community stands with them.
This year marks another opportunity for residents to take visible action. By purchasing and wearing a handmade purple scarf from Cornerstone, Northumberland residents can help spark conversations, raise awareness, and contribute to ending the epidemic of intimate partner violence and femicide.
Cornerstone is a proud partner of the Ontario Association of Interval & Transition Houses (OAITH), which has reported more than 35 femicides in Ontario since last November. The organization encourages everyone to wear purple, raise flags, and take part in local events throughout the month.
