The Municipality of Brighton is inviting residents to play a more active role in local decision-making as it looks to fill vacancies on two of its advisory committees.
Municipal officials say these committees help guide Council by offering recommendations, community insight, and specialized knowledge, and are an important way for residents to shape the services and events that matter most to them.
The municipality is searching for volunteers who are engaged in the community, strong communicators, and able to collaborate effectively in a team setting. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Brighton, at least 18 years old or a property owner, and cannot be employed by the municipality or any local committee.
Two positions are available on the Applefest Steering Committee. Members on this committee help plan, organize, and promote Applefest, Brighton’s signature event that brings residents and visitors together each fall. The committee works to ensure the festival remains a fun, high-quality celebration that reflects the community’s identity and spirit.
Brighton is also seeking one resident to join the Accessibility Advisory Committee. This committee provides recommendations to Council on the design, implementation, and effectiveness of the Municipal Accessibility Plan. The work aims to improve access and remove barriers so people with disabilities can fully participate in municipal programs, services, and daily life.
Residents interested in applying can learn more on the municipality’s website at Brighton.ca.
Questions about citizen appointments can be directed to Deputy Clerk Jessica Polly at 613-475-0670 ext. 203 or by emailing jpolley@brighton.ca.
