With the appointment of Matt Tracey, the City of Quinte West officially will soon have a new director of public works and environmental services.
According to the city, Tracey has been with Quinte West since July 2009 when he was initially hired as a manager of water and wastewater services. Before this, Tracey spent four years as director of water and wastewater services with Prince Edward County, and 11 years with the Ontario Clean Water Agency.
“We are pleased to welcome Matt as Quinte West’s director of public works and environmental services,” said Mayor Jim Harrison. “In this role, Matt will work closely with staff and the community to support the city’s long-term strategic goals.”
According to a city bio, Tracey also holds an environmental diploma from Loyalist College and is a past president and served on the board of the Eastern Ontario Water Works Association for many years.
In his new role, Tracey will oversee roads and park operations and waste management services, in addition to the city’s engineering and water and wastewater divisions.
“I’m looking forward to starting the role of director with the City of Quinte West and further working with our public works teams to provide the best service to our community,” said Tracey.
On behalf of the city’s senior leadership team, CAO Chris Angelo officially welcomed Tracey to the role.
“I have had the privilege of working with Matt for the past 16 years, and I have full confidence in his ability to excel in this new position,” added Angelo. “Matt will continue to provide the strong leadership and dependable service our community expects from the public works department.”
Tracey officially assumes the director position as of Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025.
