The City of Quinte West officially has a new physician recruiter and engagement specialist with the addition of Jessica Smylie.
The appointment was effective Dec. 1, 2025.
“I’m excited to support the health and well-being of Quinte West residents,” said Smylie. “Helping residents connect with primary-care providers is a top priority and I look forward to collaborating with the community to make that happen.”
According to a bio provided in a city release, Smylie holds a bachelor of nursing science degree from Queen’s University and maintains professional registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
“She joins us from Veterans Affairs Canada where she spent the past decade as a mental health nurse case manager,” said the city, while announcing her official appointment.
In her new role, Smylie will be tasked with advocating for unattached residents and supporting their connection to a primary-care physician, as well as helping to strengthen physician retention locally, and tracking progress of recruitment and engagement initiatives, explained the city.
CAO Chris Angelo said the city was thrilled to welcome Smylie to the team and noted she’ll also work closely with staff, area partners and residents to ultimately improve access to primary care.
