United Way Northumberland is more than halfway toward its 2025-26 annual campaign goal of $800,000, with $585,000 raised to date.
Funds collected through the campaign support essential programs and services that individuals, families, and seniors rely on across the county.
A key initiative supported by community donations is Northumberland Eats, which provides access to nutritious food for those in need, particularly during the holiday season. This year, the program has expanded to support 31 organizations and food hubs, ensuring no applicant goes without assistance.
In Brighton, the Brighton Fare Share Food Bank is using funding to offer fresh produce and proteins to local families, while in Cobourg, programs like the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank and The Salvation Army Loaves of Care continue to provide weekly meals and grocery support. Elsewhere in the county, in Hamilton Township, the Community Works Food Bank in Bewdley has been able to increase its supply of holiday hampers and weekly food parcels thanks to these donations.
“Every contribution to the United Way’s campaign directly strengthens programs like Northumberland Eats, helping local residents access food when they need it most,” said a campaign spokesperson. “The support of our community ensures that no one in Northumberland County goes hungry, and it builds a stronger, more connected region for everyone.”
Donations to the United Way of Northumberland can be made online at www.mynuw.org, or in person at 62 Swayne Street, Cobourg, open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
