Northumberland OPP is calling on the public for help with a distraction theft investigation in the Brighton area.
On Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, police issued a release saying an investigation is continuing after a theft of a power tool from a business in the Oliphant Street area back on Dec. 12, 2025. The complainant told police the theft occurred about 9:30 a.m. that day, and the drill stolen was worth about $200.
Police said officers were also told that one individual distracted staff while another left with the item.
On Tuesday, police released images of the individuals calling on anyone with information around their identities to reach out to the Brighton detachment at 613-473-1313 or OPP’s non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
Police also provided a reference occurrence number of E251667523.
Crime Stoppers remains an anonymous option where tips can also be shared and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
