A recent incident along Hwy. 401 in Brighton has Northumberland OPP speaking out about how licence suspensions are imposed for seasons reasons.
According to police, on Dec. 30, at about 12:20 p.m., officers initiated a stop on the westbound highway for a traffic-related offence. Further investigation allegedly revealed the driver was suspended.
Police said their probe led to a 22-year-old Toronto man charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, as well as charges around using an unauthorized plate and failure to surrender an insurance card.
The accused is now due in court at a later date, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Following the stop, police took to social media to post about how suspensions are imposed for serious reasons, such as impaired driving, unpaid fines or unsafe driving behaviours.
“If your licence is suspended, do not drive. Arrange alternate transportation and take steps to reinstate your licence legally,” stressed police.
