Northumberland County is advising residents that poor weather conditions may result in temporary service disruptions across the region.
County snowplows are currently deployed and working to clear roadways. Motorists are being reminded to slow down, drive according to conditions, and give plows ample space to operate safely.
As a result of the weather, Community Recycling Centres across the county will close at noon today and are expected to reopen on Friday, January 16.
Northumberland County’s Provincial Offences Office in Cobourg is also closed today, with communications impacted until reopening on Friday. Residents wishing to pay tickets can do so online at PayTickets.ca.
Some households may experience disruptions to waste and recycling collection. If scheduled collection does not occur by 7 p.m., residents are asked to remove waste and recyclables from the curb and place them out on their next regularly scheduled collection day.
In areas affected by delays, curbside waste limits will be temporarily increased to four bag tagged waste bags per household on the next collection day.
Residents with waste related questions can contact the county’s Waste Hotline at 1 866 293 8379 or email wastedept@northumberland.ca. Recycling questions can be directed to Miller Waste at area8@millerwaste.ca or by phone at 1 888 852 4723.
Some EarlyON Child and Family Centre programming has also been postponed. Updates are available on EarlyON’s Facebook page.
County officials encourage residents to stay informed, limit unnecessary travel, and take extra care during winter conditions.
