Emergency repairs due to a water main leak will be tackled today in the County Road 28 Rossmore area, says Prince Edward County.
Officials say repair work will start at about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, with an anticipated completion time of about 4 p.m.
To accommodate the work, County Road 28 near Fenwood Crescent will be down to one lane. If possible, motorists are also being asked to avoid the construction area.
Heavy equipment may also impact visibility in the area, and people should expect elevated noise levels during the work, added officials.
The repairs aren’t expected to impact water quality, but residents between 178 to 138 County Road 28 and 6 Fenwood Cres. may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations or loss of pressure and/or discoloured water while construction is taking place, explained the county.
“The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction,” reads a recent county notice.
If residents do experience discoloured water, they’re encouraged to flush their lines using the cold water tap nearest to the water meter after maintenance has wrapped.
