Two wanted individuals who allegedly tried to flee from Northumberland OPP in the Campbellford area after a traffic stop are facing charges.
According to OPP, on Jan. 15, 2026, at about 2:50 p.m., police were on patrol and attempted a traffic stop related to a prohibited driver.
Police said the motorist and passenger were both wanted and allegedly fled on foot but were subsequently taken in custody a short time after with help from the Peterborough-Northumberland community street crime unit.
Police also allege that a search yielded a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and ammunition.
As a result of the investigation, OPP said one 45-year-old with no fixed address was charged with flight from a peace officer, two counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and operation while prohibited.
Another 45-year-old person with no fixed address was also charged with possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or ammunition – contrary to prohibition order, and failure to comply with a probation order.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Police noted the vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.
