The Batawa Lions Club has donated $1,000 to the Frankford Food Pantry to help address growing demand for food assistance across the region.
Club representatives say the contribution supports local families as food bank usage continues to rise alongside higher living costs. The donation is part of the service club’s ongoing focus on strengthening community supports and ensuring essential services remain available during difficult times.
“Supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do,” said Batawa Lions Club president Ron Puccini. “As demand for food assistance continues to climb, we believe it’s more important than ever to step up and help ensure that no one in our community goes without.”
Local food support organizations across Ontario have reported sustained increases in visits over the past year, with more households turning to community pantries for help.
The Batawa Lions Club says the pantry donation reflects its broader volunteer-driven approach to community service. Each winter, members maintain free outdoor skating rinks for families. The club also organizes annual events including an Easter Egg Hunt, a village tree lighting ceremony, and Craft Fusion, which showcases local artisans and makers.
Members also lead an Adopt-a-Highway cleanup program to help keep area roadsides clear of litter and support neighbourhood pride.
Club officials thanked volunteers, supporters, and community partners whose contributions make projects and donations possible throughout the year.
