As temperatures drop, community members across Northumberland are once again being invited to step outside for a cause. The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) fundraising walk returns to Port Hope on Saturday, February 28, raising critical funds for the Green Wood Coalition.
Now in its 12th year locally, CNOY’s Kim Jaye tells us the family-friendly walk asks participants to experience a small part of what many people facing homelessness, hunger, and social isolation endure daily, while supporting services close to home.
Jaye says the event is Green Wood Coalition’s most important fundraiser of the year.
Funds raised support Green Wood Coalition’s wide range of programs in both Port Hope and Cobourg, including meal programs, arts and wellness initiatives, and mental health supports.
Participants can register as individuals or teams, donate, or volunteer on walk night. The Port Hope walk begins and ends at St. Paul’s Church and wraps up with a community chili social.
More information on how to get involved is available through Coldest Night of the Year Port Hope online and on social media.
