The Municipality of Brighton says staff are busy preparing for the 2026 municipal and school board election coming up on Oct. 26, 2026.
Officials are also asking residents to do their part.
This means if you’ve recently turned 18 years old, changed your name or moved, you’re being asked to take a moment to confirm your voter information via Elections Ontario to help keep the voters’ list accurate.
Meanwhile, candidate nomination packages are set to start becoming available as early as May 1 both online and in-person at the clerk’s office at 35 Alice. St., explained staff.
“Voting in the 2026 election will be conducted using internet voting,” added staff.
To help prepare residents, candidates and the community for the upcoming election, staff have also compiled a helpful information guide related to eligibility for voters, important dates, and more.
Here’s what you need to know:
HOW TO VOTE:
Internet voting will occur between Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. to Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
During this eight-day period, eligible voters will be able to access an online voting portal using their birth date and a PIN provided in their voter information letter, which will be delivered by mail, said staff.

Voters who are Canadian citizens at least 18 years of age and are a resident, property owner and/or tenant, or the spouse of an owner or tenant in the Municipality of Brighton, are eligible to cast their ballots in the 2026 election.
ELECTION HELP:
People needing help during the voting period can email elections@brighton.ca or call 613-475 – 0670 and select option 3.
