Cobourg police say four people have been charged after officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence in town.
The search took place February 12 in the area of Division Street and Swayne Street. According to police, the action followed an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking.
Members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau were joined by Port Hope Police investigators, Cobourg uniform patrol officers and specialized support from the Belleville Police Service emergency response and K9 units.
Police say they seized approximately 25 grams of fentanyl, 78 grams of cocaine, Canadian currency, multiple cellphones, weigh scales and packaging materials.
Andrew Puffer, 40, Matthew Raciunas, 42, Amber Singer, 36, and Natasha Morrison, 37, all face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.
Police say Puffer is also charged with possession of proceeds of crime under five thousand dollars, while Singer faces an additional count of simple possession.
Puffer was held in custody for a bail hearing. The other accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court at future dates.
Investigators estimate the street value of the drugs at about 18 thousand 500 dollars. Police allege the fentanyl seized is equivalent to roughly 240 potentially fatal doses.
All charges remain before the courts.
