A 72-year-old woman has died after a house fire in Belleville, say police.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, at about 5:30 a.m., Belleville police said they responded to a house fire in the Queen and William streets area.
Emergency crews were on scene working to control the fire and upon arrival, it was reported that individuals might still be inside.
One person was rescued by firefighters from the home while two others escaped on their own, reported police.
Two women – both 72-years-old – were sent to hospital and the first sustained serious injuries, while the second sustained critical injuries and has since succumbed to her injuries, officials have confirmed.
The third individual was not injured.
Belleville police said they’re helping the Office of the Fire Marshal with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
