Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services will be tackling ice water rescue training this weekend.
The City of Quinte West says this training is part of a NFPA 1006 ice water rescue training course being delivered by the Hastings Prince Edward Mutual Aid Association Regional Fire Training Centre.
The training will take place on Friday, March 6, Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Trent Port Marina area.
The Quinte West team will join firefighters from across the province to participate in the nationally recognized course to learn ice and cold-water rescue techniques that will ultimately enhance their on-ice and in-water responses, as well as their the ability to tackle more complex emergency situations, say city officials.
For the public, over the course of the three days, residents will see fire vehicles, equipment and an increased emergency personnel presence in the marina area as part of the training.
People are also being asked to stay clear of the training area and follow any posted signage or direction from on-site personnel.
