A 12-year-old has been charged after Belleville police say they responded to a public elementary school regarding information about a threat to allegedly commit violence at the school that had been posted on social media.
As a result of the investigation, police said the female – whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was arrested and charged with uttering threats.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in May, reported police.
Police said they believe there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
