A member of Kingston Police is facing sexual assault and assault charges in addition to a previous criminal harassment charge after an investigation headed up by the Belleville Police Service, say investigators.
As previously reported in mid-February, the service said the accused had been charged in connection to off-duty incidents and the Belleville Police Service was originally contacted back in October 2025 by Kingston Police with a request to conduct an independent investigation into an allegation of criminal harassment involving one of their members.
On Feb. 11, 2026, Belleville police said the member was arrested and charged with one count of criminal harassment.
Police have not identified a rank or name and have only referred to the accused as a member of the service.
In an update issued Tuesday, March 31, police confirmed additional charges were laid.
In another brief release, police stated that on March 24, 2026, as a result of further investigation into additional allegations from the complainant, the member was arrested and additionally charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of assault.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Following the latest charges, the accused was again released on an undertaking with conditions and is set to appear in court at a later date, reported the Belleville service.
No specific court dates were released.
On March 31, Belleville police again stated that no further details will be released to protect the privacy of the victim and maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Police released no other details.
