Construction work is ramping back up on the Trenton trunk sewer project and will mean parking disruptions in the Fraser Park area, says the City of Quinte West.
City officials say the work starts back up today – Tuesday, April 7 – and will continue in the Fraser Park downtown area until late summer.
The new trunk sewer installation in the west end of Trenton is supposed to support the growth and increase of water and sewer capacity for up to 5,000 new homes, according to city staff.
To accommodate the work, parking spaces in the south section of the Fraser Park parking lot will not be available during construction.
However, parking spaces along the north portion of the lot and access to the park, and Fraser Park Drive will be maintained until the end of April, noted city staff.
Described as a significant infrastructure investment, the project includes a new underground water and sewer main, which will extend from the downtown area to the west end of the city and into areas such as Albert Street, Creswell Drive, Victoria Avenue, Dufferin Avenue, 2nd Dug Hill Road and Hwy. 2.
Officials noted that additional project updates and impacts such as road and sidewalk closures will be shared as the project continues.
Work on the larger project initially started last year and is expected to continue into spring next year. Project updates will also be posted online via the city’s website.
