The Fashion for Foundation fundraiser to improve healthcare at Trenton Memorial Hospital is making a return just before Mother’s Day for its seventh year.
This year’s fashion show is again being led by long-time hospital supporter and volunteer event co-ordinator Sharon Urquhart with the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Funds raised from the May 7 event at the Batawa Community Centre will go to the foundation’s “Emerge Stronger” campaign and ultimately help fund a new ophthalmology stretcher for the hospital.
“It costs approximately $17,500 to buy a stretcher,” notes Urquhart, while explaining this equipment also goes a long way to helping thousands of residents annually across the region.
In previous years, the event has been a smashing success for another key area of healthcare, and Urquhart is hoping the community will again rally for the cause and an evening of fashion and purpose.
This year’s show will feature a mix of men and women’s fashion and there will be lots of local faces and shops in the spotlight for the evening.
Before the big show, there will also be lots of festivities happening. Healthcare information tables showcasing different local services and the online auction are returning, and there will also be prizes, a 50/50 draw, and pre-fashion show entertainment, to name just a few examples.
Urquhart gives us a glimpse into some of the entertainment coming up for the evening.
DJ Leo Phillips will also be part of the mix.
Doors will open May 7 at 5:30 p.m. The entertainment starts around 6 p.m. with the cloggers’ performance first and then the band. The fashion show gets underway just before 7 p.m. and goes until about 9 p.m. or a little after.
Tickets are $30, and additional information is accessible online.
