A 24-year-old Quinte West woman is accused of assaulting a peace officer, dangerous and impaired driving and additional offences after an investigation that started out with a traffic complaint.
Last Friday, April 10, 2026, at about 5:25 p.m., Quinte West OPP said a traffic complaint in the Front Street Trenton area led police to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.
The investigation has led to charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, OPP has now reported.
As a result of the probe, police said the accused was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), assaulting a peace officer, dangerous driving, class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by a qualified driver, novice driver – B.A.C. above zero, failure to surrender a licence, failure to surrender a vehicle permit, careless driving, and failure to have an insurance card.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused will appear in court in Belleville on May 28, 2026, reported OPP, adding the individual also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
