The Brighton YMCA is gearing up for a full day of fitness and fundraising as the Megathon returns April 27, in support of the YMCA Northumberland Strong Communities Campaign.
The event runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brighton YMCA, 170 Main Street, and features a full slate of group fitness classes designed for all experience levels. Participants can take part in high-energy Cyclefit and Step classes, as well as Yoga sessions focused on mobility and mindfulness.
Organizers say the event is both a fitness challenge and a community fundraiser, with proceeds supporting local programs aimed at improving health, connection and well-being across the region.
“While the Brighton Megathon offers the chance for a great workout, its true purpose lies in the spirit of giving,” said Eunice Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of YMCA Northumberland. She added that funds raised help ensure residents have access to programs that support healthier, more connected lives.
A minimum donation of $5 per class is encouraged, and participants are invited to collect pledges in support of a $750 fundraising goal.
Classes will run in 45-minute to one-hour blocks throughout the day, allowing participants to mix and match sessions based on their fitness level and interest.
Organizers say prizes and surprises will be part of the event, and both YMCA members and non-members are welcome to participate.
Full class schedules are available online ahead of the event.
The Megathon has become a signature community fundraiser for the Brighton YMCA, combining physical activity with grassroots fundraising efforts aimed at strengthening local programming and services.
Officials say the event is designed to bring people together while highlighting the impact of community support in sustaining health and wellness initiatives in Northumberland County.
