FRIDAY, MAY 8:
QUINTE WEST SPRING SCAVENGER HUNT: Hosted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can indulge in solo adventures or gather friends of family to discover the community until May 19. Participants can visit five sites, including the Munitions Plant, Old Bank Cafe, Wooler Schoolhouse, Old Sidney Town Hall Park and the Trent Port Historical Society and scan on-site signage to learn more about their history.
SPRING BIRDING FESTIVAL: SHARED STORIES: Hosted by the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory starting today. This is a three-day festival set against the backdrop of peak spring migration and the natural beauty of Prince Edward Point.
COME TOGETHER NORTHUMBERLAND: Hosted by the Ontario Health Team of Northumberland as part of Mental Health Week, this event is bringing together 35 local organizations all under one roof at the Cobourg Community Centre today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal is to help residents connect with services they may not know exist in their own backyards.
GRATITUDE ROCKS: Hosted at the Brighton Public Library from 3 to 5 p.m. Drop in and decorate a rock during Mental Health Week for the garden. Or you can take your beauty home and share it with someone special.
LOOKING BACK ART SHOW: Presented by the Trent Port Historical Society at Trenton Town Hall – 1861 – this art show features an array of vintage paintings and quilts by local artists and a silent auction. Festivities offer people a chance to also journey back in time from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening, and again this weekend 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The silent auction ends Sunday at 2 p.m.
SATURDAY, MAY 9:

BELLEVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET: Hosted 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 15 Market Sq., Belleville.
FRONT STREET FARMERS’ MARKET: Hosted in Trenton from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday until Thanksgiving weekend.
BRIGHTON COMMUNITY GARDEN GRAND OPENING: Swing by to take in the new garden from 10 a.m. to noon at 3 Rundle Lane. It will be a morning of community, connection, and fresh beginnings. You can also bring a pail for some free natural fertilizer. Garden is open all. There will also be some compost giveaways to kick-start the gardening season.
QUINTE WEST COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS EXPO: Hosted at Quinte West City Hall 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s a one-stop shop to meet local organizations and community groups and learn about services in one place.
KIDS’ CRAFT KITS: Swing by the main desk at BPL from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the latest craft kits for the kids.
BRIGHTON LEGION KIDS’ CRAFT DAY: The Ways and Means team for the legion is hosting an arts and crafts day for kids to make mom a special gift for Mother’s Day from 2 to 5 p.m. (And Sunday, the Brighton Legion hosts a Mother’s Day breakfast 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
THE MOTHER OF ALL MUSIC BINGOS: The Canadian Military Wives Choirs Trenton hosts this music bingo inspired fundraiser at Suthas Pizza in Trenton starting at 8 p.m. Open karaoke will follow two rounds of bingo. There will also be a silent auction.
LOCAL SPORTS: Support our teams!
Opening night for the Brighton Speedway is now Saturday, marking the 59th season for racing in Brighton.
And the Brighton Baseball Association has reopened registration for the 15 and under division, looking for a few more players to round out two teams.
