A beloved tradition to celebrate Brighton youth starting a new chapter is set to return on May 22.
Residents are again being invited to cheer on East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) grads as they light up local streets during the annual prom parade.
The long-time tradition sees grads shine in their prom attire and features vintage fire trucks, classic cars and more.
The parade will again depart at Brighton’s Fellowship Christian Reformed Church on Friday, May 22 and then travel along Main Street starting at about 4 p.m.
Grads then make their way towards the high school, turning onto Dundas Street and then Terry Fox Drive.
Northumberland OPP and Brighton Fire and Rescue normally provide an escort.
The parade is expected to last about an hour to an hour-and-a-half.
The Municipality of Brighton said there won’t be any road closures this year except for Terry Fox Drive, but officials are encouraging residents to plan ahead for traffic delays and/or adjust their routes.
The best viewing is considered on the south side of Main and Dundas streets.
Every year, families, shop owners and residents line the streets to cheer grads on.
