Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation is celebrating a record-breaking Smile Cookie week campaign after nearly 10,000 cookies were sold in support of the planned new Campbellford hospital.
The foundation has announced that this year’s campaign at the Campbellford Tim Hortons raised $20,167.64 for the hospital project.
According to organizers, the Campbellford restaurant finished as the top Smile Cookie seller across West Hastings and Northumberland during the annual fundraiser.
Tim Hortons restaurant owner Jimmy Robertson says the campaign highlighted the strong support residents have for the future hospital.
Robertson says individuals, families and businesses across the community all stepped up to support the fundraiser and demonstrated how important the hospital project is to the region.
The foundation also announced that Smile Cookie proceeds from the Campbellford location will continue supporting the new hospital campaign for the next four years.
Foundation Chair Martha Hunt says the long term commitment will have a meaningful impact on health care in the community.
Officials also praised Tim Hortons Store Manager Brenda Ruelland and restaurant staff for helping manage the high energy campaign and encouraging customer participation throughout the week.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support development of a new state of the art hospital aimed at improving access to care close to home for residents across Trent Hills and surrounding communities.
A public cheque presentation celebrating the campaign is scheduled for May 13 at the Campbellford Tim Hortons location.
