Municipal geotechnical road investigations starting next week are expected to have some traffic and noise impacts in several areas of Brighton.
Here is what you need to know.
The Municipality of Brighton has confirmed work will be taking place Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20 at the following locations:
- Baldwin Street: From Harbour Street to Bay Street.
- Butler Street: From Prince Edward Street to Division Street.
- Dundas Street: From Pinnacle Street to Georgina Street.
- Elizabeth Street: From Prince Edward Street to Pinnacle Street.
- Pinnacle Street South: From Elizabeth Street to the southern end.
- Division Street: From Grimes Street to Butler Street.
- Presqu’ile Parkway: From Ontario Street to Lakeshore Road.
- Hope Street: From Singleton Street to Lakeview Heights.
“The work will include drilling boreholes along each road segment to investigate subsurface conditions,” said officials, adding that drilling activities will happen between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. “Minor traffic disruptions and temporary lane restrictions are expected during the work.”
Municipal staff said all locations will remain open to traffic and temporary localized detours initiated only if needed. Activities at each of the locations are expected to last about two-three hours.
Noise levels will be elevated during drilling operations and it’s possible that vibrations may be felt in the surrounding area, added staff.
The municipality said these investigations are being undertaken to support capital infrastructure project planning and design.
