Northumberland County is moving ahead with planned road safety and infrastructure upgrades in Grafton and is inviting residents to learn more during a public information session next week.
The County says the project will focus on improvements along County Road 2 near County Road 23 and is designed to improve pedestrian safety, traffic operations and roadway conditions within the community.
Planned upgrades include new and relocated pedestrian crossing features, roadway rehabilitation work and related infrastructure improvements in the project area.
Residents and local businesses are being encouraged to attend a public information session scheduled for Thursday, May 21 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Grafton.
County staff will be available during the session to review project details, answer questions and discuss anticipated construction timelines.
According to Northumberland County, construction is expected to take place between July and September 2026.
Temporary lane restrictions are anticipated during portions of the work, though officials say access for residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained throughout the project.
County staff also say they will be reaching out directly to businesses located within the construction area ahead of the work to discuss possible impacts and timing.
The County says the project is intended to improve overall road safety and transportation conditions in Grafton while supporting both local traffic movement and pedestrian accessibility through the community.
Additional information will be shared as the project moves closer to construction.
