Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s going on in Brighton and the surrounding areas over the next 48 hours.
TUESDAY, MAY 26:
BELLEVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET: Hosted at 15 Market Sq., Belleville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GUIDED WALKS: Hosted at Ferris Provincial Park every Tuesday starting at 9 a.m. rain or shine. Participants meet at the east end of the suspension bridge.
TRAIL RUNNING: Meet at the Batawa Trails (99 Ski Club Lane) Tuesdays 6 to 7 p.m. to build up your confidence, improve endurance or just enjoy the outdoors. All fitness levels are welcome and participants can go at their own pace. The six-week trail running program, which is being hosted in partnership with the Quinte West Public Library and Dirty Soles Trail Running, has also been designed to support folks gearing up for the Boomerang Race on June 13.
BRIGHTON’S HISTORY: DISASTERS: Join local author and historian Rene Schmidt to learn more about some of Brighton’s most dramatic moments in history with this author chat at the Brighton Public Library running 6:30 to 8 p.m. No registration is needed.
BRIGHTON GARDEN CLUB MEETING: You can learn more at the club’s regular monthly meeting at King Edward with a special presentation from the Durham Master Gardeners talking about growing hydrangeas. It’s $5 for non-members, or you can get a $20 annual membership. All are welcome and no experience is needed. The meeting starts at 7 but you can come early to socialize at 6:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27:
HIKING ADVENTURES: Get back to loving the outdoors meeting at the Batawa Trails from 10 to 11 a.m.
KNITCETERA: Swing by the Brighton Public Library with your latest yarn project to share with other yarn enthusiasts from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. No registration is needed to take part. Those wanting to learn how to crocket or knit are also welcome.
BRIGHTON PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: The meeting is hosted from 7 to 8 p.m. in the program room at 35 Alice St. The public is welcome.
BRIGHTON LIONS’ BINGO: Hosted at King Edward from 4 to 10 p.m.
SUPPER’S READY: You can swing by Trinity-St. Andrew’s United Church in Brighton from 5 to 6 p.m. for a free meal and community connection. Small donations are appreciated for those who are able to help cover some food costs.

In local baseball, the Brighton Bandits have three games on the schedule tonight (Tuesday, May 26): The 15 and under teams are away taking on Quinte West and Warkworth, and the 13 and under team hosts Colborne at King Edward diamond A.
