A Quebec man is facing charges after a Quinte West OPP impaired driving investigation.
On May 22, 2026, at about 2:40 p.m., police said a traffic complaint in the Dundas Street East Trenton area led officers to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.
The investigation led to charges laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Tobacco Tax Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act, said OPP.
As a result of the probe, police said the 51-year-old Quebec man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of unmarked cigarettes, and having care or control of a vehicle with open liquor.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Belleville court on July 9.
The accused also had his licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for a week, reported OPP.
Quinte West OPP continues to urge citizens to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
