The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce will soon have a new CEO with long-time local businessman Joe Southwell taking over the reins.
As previously reported, outgoing CEO Suzanne Andrews is retiring at the end of June after 20 years of serving at the helm.
“This transition feels like both a personal milestone and an exciting new chapter for the chamber,” said Andrews. “Great organizations don’t stand still – they evolve – and I truly believe the solid foundation we’ve all built together will continue to support new opportunities and growth well into the future.”
Andrews also shared she was excited about the hiring committee’s decision to bring on incoming CEO Southwell, who will start June 8. Southwell has had several roles over the years, including in media with Bic Clic and Postmedia/Sun Media, where he also worked at the Belleville Intelligencer.
Andrews said he’s excited to be part of the chamber and passionate about community and she believes he’ll serve as a great support for the business community into the future.
“Joe brings great energy, experience and a clear passion for community,” echoed the chamber, after the hiring announcement. “He understands business and what makes this community special and the board is confident he’ll continue to build on the chamber’s accomplishments and lead with purpose and vision.”
The business community will also have a chance to bid farewell to Andrews and welcome Southwell at an exclusive networking event coming up June 25 at the Trent Port Marina.
Residents can also stop in the chamber office to meet the new leader and wish Andrews well on her next adventure in the meantime.
