Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s going on in Brighton and the surrounding areas over the next 48 hours.
TUESDAY, JUNE 2:
BELLEVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET: The market is back up and running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GUIDED WALKS IN FERRIS PROVINCIAL PARK: These guided walks happen every Tuesday morning starting at 9 a.m. – rain or shine. Participants meet at the east end of the suspension bridge.
BRIGHTON PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB: The club has the King Edward Community Centre booked for its meeting from 9 a.m. to noon.
ACTIVITIES IN THE PARK: Belleville is kicking off Recreation and Parks Month and Seniors Month in style at West Zwick’s Park from 4 to 7 p.m. And all of the activities and demonstrations are free! Attendees can expect an inflatable obstacle course, balloon animals, live performances, food trucks, prizes, a mayor’s soccer challenge, and more.
INNOVATORS ACADEMY: In this fun, hands-on program for school-aged kids, participants will learn the basics of robotics, electronics and coding, says the Trenton library. Kids will learn about simple robots, create circuits, and explore how technology works, while also developing problem-solving and teamwork skills. Hosted from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Trenton library branch.
TRAIL RUNNING: This six-week running program returns in Batawa from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. thanks to a partnership between the Quinte West Public Library and Dirty Soles Trail Running. Whether you’re looking to build confidence, improve endurance, or just enjoy the outdoors, all fitness levels are welcome. Hosted at the Batawa Trails at 99 Ski Club Lane. The program has also been designed to support participants prepping for the June 13 Boomerang Race. Registration is required, but it’s a free program.
AUTHOR CHAT: GORDON PITTS: You can discover a shocking and true piece of Northumberland County history – which includes explosions, assassinations and cheese – at this special author chat at the Brighton Public Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Copies of “Scary Harry” will be available after the presentation. No registration is needed.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3:
HIKING ADVENTURES: Get together for a fun, healthy outdoor experience at the Batawa Trails (99 Ski Club Lane) from 10 to 11 a.m.
KNITCETERA: Hosted from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., drop in at the Brighton Public Library and share your latest projects with other yarn enthusiasts. No registration is needed. People wanting to learn how to knit or crochet are also welcome.
BRIGHTON LIONS BINGO: The club has the hall at King Edward from 4 to 10 p.m.
CONCERTS IN THE PARK: Bentwood Rocker is kicking off this summer-long series, which lights up the outdoor stage at Memorial Park every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
LOCAL SPORTS: Support our teams!
In local baseball, the Brighton Bandits have three games Tuesday night, and all of them are at home at King Edward Park. The 13 and 19 and under teams play on diamond A and the nine and under group plays on diamond B.
On Wednesday, the Bandits have another four games and three will be at home at King Edward. Hitting the diamonds next are the under 15 teams, along with the 11 and under and 13 and under teams.
