Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is continuing to find new ways to support local residents, whether through affordable home repairs, custom-built outdoor planters and sheds or volunteer opportunities that strengthen the community.
Known for building affordable housing across Northumberland, Habitat’s work extends well beyond new home construction. Through its ReStore and Home Repair Program, the organization helps homeowners maintain safe, accessible and functional living spaces while generating funds to support its broader mission.
Fundraising representative Joanna Barrington says one of the most exciting recent developments is the expansion of Habitat’s Home Repair Program.
According to Habitat Northumberland, the program can assist with a wide range of projects, including accessibility modifications and repairs inside the home, exterior repairs, decks, fencing, landscaping and other maintenance needs. Revenue generated through the service helps subsidize repairs for residents who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
The organization is also seeing strong demand for custom-built cedar planter boxes and garden sheds produced through its workshop.
Barrington says the projects have become popular with homeowners while providing another way to support Habitat’s work.
Volunteers continue to be a key part of that success.
Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is currently recruiting volunteers for the ReStore while preparing for future home builds and repair projects across the county.
