Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s going on in Brighton and the surrounding areas over the next 48 hours.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3:
DROP-IN PICKLEBALL: Hosted at the Dr. McMullen Recreation Centre in Frankford 9 a.m. to noon.
HIKING ADVENTURES: Get together for a fun, healthy outdoor experience at the Batawa Trails (99 Ski Club Lane) from 10 to 11 a.m.
KNITCETERA: Hosted from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., drop in at the Brighton Public Library and share your latest projects with other yarn enthusiasts. No registration is needed. People wanting to learn how to knit or crochet are also welcome.
BRIGHTON LIONS BINGO: The club has the hall at King Edward from 4 to 10 p.m.
VINYL LISTENING PARTY: Come hang out and listen to some vinyl records at Meyers Creek Brewing in Belleville from 6 to 9 p.m. There’s also a chance to enter a draw to win a mystery/previously loved vinyl record.
SKYHAWKS PERFORMANCE: The SkyHawks take over the skies at Centennial Park. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 6:15 p.m., with the jump set for 6:30 p.m. The demonstration is weather-dependent.
CONCERTS IN THE PARK: Bentwood Rocker is kicking off this summer-long series, which lights up the outdoor stage at Memorial Park every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
THURSDAY, JUNE 4:
DROP-IN PICKLEBALL: Swing by Duncan Memorial Arena in Trenton 9 a.m. to noon to serve up some summer fun.
BELLEVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET: Hosted at 15 Market Square from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
BUSY BEES: Buzz on over to the Brighton Public Library to explore a variety of sensory activities in this relaxed program for babies and caregivers running 10 to 10:30 a.m.
SONG AND STORY HOUR: Returns at the Brighton Public Library featuring Terry and Penny for sing-alongs and stories for a full hour between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
TWEEN SCENE: Hosted at the Brighton Public Library from 3 to 4 p.m., youth ages 11 to 14 can swing by for snacks, games and crafts or just to hang out in the program room.
OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THE GRAND MAPLE: Featuring lots of local entertainment at the Grand Maple Event Centre in Hastings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
SKYHAWKS IN BRIGHTON: SKYHAWKS IN BRIGHTON: The precision Canadian Armed Forces parachute team is performing as Brighton Fire and Rescue hosts the Northumberland County Mutual Aid Association and marks a special 75 years. The public will be able to take in the performance at the Codrington Community Centre starting at 7 p.m.

In local baseball, on Wednesday, the Bandits have another four games, and three will be at home at King Edward. Hitting the diamonds next are the under 15 teams, along with the 11 and under and 13 and under teams.
On Thursday, the Bandits have six games teed up, with three at home with the nine, 13 and 19 and under teams at King Edward Park.
