Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s going on in Brighton and the surrounding areas over the next 48 hours.
THURSDAY, JUNE 4:
DROP-IN PICKLEBALL: Swing by Duncan Memorial Arena in Trenton 9 a.m. to noon to serve up some summer fun.
BELLEVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET: Hosted at 15 Market Square from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
BUSY BEES: Buzz on over to the Brighton Public Library to explore a variety of sensory activities in this relaxed program for babies and caregivers running 10 to 10:30 a.m.
SONG AND STORY HOUR: Returns at the Brighton Public Library featuring Terry and Penny for sing-alongs and stories for a full hour between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
TWEEN SCENE: Hosted at the Brighton Public Library from 3 to 4 p.m., youth ages 11 to 14 can swing by for snacks, games and crafts or just to hang out in the program room.
OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THE GRAND MAPLE: Featuring lots of local entertainment at the Grand Maple Event Centre in Hastings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
SKYHAWKS IN BRIGHTON: The precision Canadian Armed Forces parachute team is performing as Brighton Fire and Rescue hosts the Northumberland County Mutual Aid Association and marks a special 75 years. The public will be able to take in the performance at the Codrington Community Centre starting at 7 p.m.
FRIDAY, JUNE 5:
DROP-IN PICKLEBALL: Hosted at Duncan Memorial Arena in Trenton from 9 a.m. to noon.
QUINTE WEST POP-UPS: Pop-up season continues at Centennial Park in Trenton from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
FILM SCREENING: WE THE CHILDREN: This special screening from the National Film Board, in honour of Indigenous History Month, is being hosted at the Brighton Public Library from 2 to 4 p.m. No registration is required.
STOP MOTION ANIMATION: In this six-week series, kids dive into the world of stop motion animation and use everyday objects like clay, LEGO and mini figures. For ages eight-plus. At the end of the program, small groups present their films. Runs 4 to 4:45 p.m. in the makerspace at the Trenton library branch. Registration is required.
FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL DANCE: The Brighton Legion hosts its social dance from 7 to 11 p.m. featuring DJ Greg spinning the tunes. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
LOCAL SPORTS: Support our teams!
In local baseball, the Brighton Bandits have six games teed up Thursday. Three of the games are at King Edward Park, with the nine, 13 and 19 and under teams on the diamonds.
