Brighton and area non-profits and charitable organizations are getting a major boost through this year’s community grant program.
The Municipality of Brighton has announced a total of $154,809 has been awarded through the program for 2026.
“The community grant program provides financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations that provide direct programs, services or activities that enhance the quality of place and economy for Brighton’s residents,” explained municipal staff, noting all funding was approved as part of the 2026 mayoral budget process.
Under community project grants – which means seed money or in-kind support for a specific project up to $1,000 – the 2026 reported recipients include the Brighton Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club, Brighton Garden Club, Brighton Computer Club, Quinte SailAbility, and the Waterfront Regeneration Trust Corporation.
There was also funding or in-kind support for projects, special events, specific programs and operating budgets up to $5,000 awarded through the community investment grant stream.
This year, local groups benefiting include the Codrington Farmers’ Market, Brighton Baseball Association, Community Care Northumberland, Brighton Stockings and Santa Sacks, the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward, Brighton’s Children Centre, Home Rainbow Youth Centre, ALUS Kawarthas Peterborough-Northumberland, and the Codrington, Hilton, McPhail, Mt. Olivet and Carman cemeteries.
Finally, the municipality said there were also non-profit major grants dished out, which means help through funding or in-kind support for specific programs or capital budgets that support municipal core services and mandates. These grants are up to $20,000.
This year’s recipients include the Beacon Youth Centre, Sunny Days Group Program, Brighton Auxiliary Rescue Unit, Save Our Heritage Organization, Gift from the Heart, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation and Greenwood Cemetery.
Officials said the annual grants program aims to ultimately help foster a vibrant, inclusive and resilient community through investments in organizations making a meaningful impact in Brighton.
